Anti-human trafficking concert, documentary show held in Khulna

An anti-human trafficking awareness concert and documentary show was held at Hadis Park in Khulna on Thursday.

This concert was organized by the “Ashshash” project facilitated by Winrock International and supported by the Switzerland Embassy in Bangladesh as part of the month-long campaign of anti-trafficking and protection of survivors program, said a press release issued on Friday.

Popular musician Chandana Majumder and band “Different Touch” performed at the concert. 

Along with the music, a documentary show produced by Winrock International was launched and screened on promoting awareness among the local people to prevent human trafficking. 

The documentary highlights the consequence of human trafficking.

The concert was inaugurated by Dipta Rakshit, team leader of the Ashshash project, and country representative, Bangladesh of Winrock International. 

In her welcome speech, she urged everyone to speak out from their respective positions to prevent human trafficking.

Survivors from the “Ashshash” project including general people, civil society, representatives of local government and human rights workers attended the event.

They also took an oath about anti-trafficking.

Ashshash project, implemented by Winrock International, is working in Bangladesh with the aim to provide mental and physical support, restoring dignity, well-being, and self-sufficiency for men and women who have escaped trafficking and legal assistance to the victims of human trafficking. 

The activities of the project are already spread in 15 upazilas of five districts prone to human trafficking in the country since 2018.

As part of this campaign, the second concert will be held on Sunday at the Government Boys School ground in Satkhira. 

Popular singers Chandana Majumdar and Sandeepan will perform.

The third concert will be held on May 10 at Jessore's Town Hall ground, the most popular bands “Joler Gaan” and Sandeepan will perform there and the last concert is on May 14 at Laboni Beach of Cox's Bazar. 

Popular bands “Dalchhut' and “Maadal” will participate in that concert.
